3D Printed model from Sculpteo.com

Just arrived hot in the mail, the guys at sculpteo.com were kind enough to use their 3D printing technology to create a 3D model of me!

If you haven’t heard of this already, 3D printing is becoming huge business in the areas of prototyping, toy manufacturing, architecture, the list is only limited by your imagination.

The model in the video feels rough to the touch, however, you can feel the level of granularity that the technology can achieve. Fine detail in the hands of the model shows just how precise the process is.  Considering that we are only at the beginning of this technology, the future looks very exciting and already we have people printing food and prosthetic body parts (yes you heard right!) using the same type of equipment.
